CHaRT-SL - GUIDING PRINCIPLES

  1. Excellence:  Apply the most appropriate scientific methods in the conduct of our research.

  2. Relevance:  Undertake research that is relevant to the regions where the HDSSs are located and to the country as a whole.

  3. Independence:  Ensure the independence of the centre and our staff from political influence, policy advocacy, and other conflicting influences.

  4. Comparability:  Standardise research tools so that measurements are comparable across time and populations.

  5. Transparency:  Foster transparency and accountability in all our operations including financial and research.

  6. Efficiency:  Seek to use human and financial resources where the Centre can make the greatest contribution.

  7. Collaboration:  Work with other institutions to make the greatest contribution to the field of health and demographic surveillance systems.

  8. Consultation:  Consult with the research community in Sierra Leone and elsewhere to better understand the issues related to research for health in the country.

  9. Dialogue:  Foster an open and constructive debate and dialogue about all aspects of health and demographic surveillance systems including methods and results used in the Centre‚Äôs work.

Our Legal Status

CHaRT-SL is a national NGO, business registered and incorporated on 26/02/13 by the Registrar General; registered on 14/03/13 with the Sierra Leone Association of NGOs (SLANGO); on 22/03/13 with the National Revenue Authority (NRA), TIN 1042204-8; and with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. It will finance its operations through consultancies, research grants from national and international research funders, donors and partners.
